Sylvia Barnes Gailliard

The owner of Gailliard Adult & Senior Services, Sylvia Barnes Gailliard, RN, MS has been providing care to adults and children for over thirty-five years. She is a Registered Nurse and a graduate of Cornell University with advanced training in Geriatric and Pediatric care. She has received certification as a Geriatric Care Manager, Pediatric Nurse, Hospice and Home Health Care Administrator and Legal Nurse Consultant. She has been in business since 1993,  serving ten counties.

Ms. Gailliard has worked in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut in the home health and hospice field from staff nurse to supervisor before returning home to Charleston. While working there, she received her advanced training in geriatric and pediatric care. She worked in a Pediatric clinic run by the VNA of New Jersey and did followup visits in the home. Ms. Gailliard was part of a team that developed a guideline booklet for newborn care.  While working in New Jersey and Connecticut, she received additional training in geriatric care and became certified as a geriatric home health nurse.

Upon her return home to SC, she worked for two home health agencies. Under her administration, she developed and managed their initial operation and increased their census from one patient to over three hundred patients. These programs are still in existence today. In 1993 she started the second hospice in the tri-county area. This hospice received JCAHO accreditation with Deemed status and had a census of over one hundred patients. The hospice was sold to a new owner in 2001 and  is still in operation.
